here's the deal with suiciding- you may get a bid but its a higher probability that you will NOT get one and go bidless. That house would have to have you on their first bid-list otherwise you will not be matched. So do the math- if quota is 100 and 300 girls are invited to Pref you a 33% chance of getting a bid. This number drops lower if you start asking yourself- is this a house with a lot of legacies going through that haven't been cut? Is this a house where I dont have a major connection? Is this a house that primarily pledges in-state girls and I am OOS, etc... if those are the cases you have just dropped your odds even lower because those girls will be placed higher on the bid list then you.
Bottom line with suiciding is ONLY do it if you are 10000% sure you would rather not be greek at all then to wear your second choices letters. This means missing out on bid day activities, parties, big sis/ lil sis, etc.... it means sitting by watching your roommate and other hall mates get to know there sisters and run off to various events. And I am not saying that you will be a social dud if you don't go greek, just trying to be realistic and make you ask yourself am I okay with all of that, and am I willing to take the risk of not having that. Because honestly your chances will be worse next year and your house choices much more limited, and in all likelihood the houses that you "don't see yourself in" will be the only ones doing informal.
Keep in mind this second house that you don't want to list- you have only met at most 10 girls out of 300. Not to mention the new pledge class. If you honestly don't think you would be happy or be able to give this other house a legit chance, then suicide and give that spot to another girl who desperately wants it- however know that you could be making a big mistake. I also wanted to go where I was wanted and valued. Your experience is personal and not a referendum on other's opinions, which amount to a hill of beans. No one will actually care AT ALL where you join except for you.
