It's something that's been said so often for years now to so many cut kids who "had a friend who is an active" or something similar that the truth of it has gotten muddled. In reality it is just an excuse made to spare cut kids from awkward confrontation of hurt feelings.

They are trying to make you feel better. If your in house friends don't have a lot of pull and aren't friends with the higher ups in the house to get and asterisk next to your name then you are screwed. Sorry but it's the truth. I think it's best to go in with eyes wide open.

a girl thinks their favorite PNM is in and so they might actually think it was a mistake on Panhellenic's part and not that their own sorority in fact did cut someone. Just take everything with a grain of salt. If the computers mess up, they're fixed before you get your invites back.

....that doesn't have anything to do with what I said. Everything as in what actives are telling you about rush bc in reality they don't really know whats going on and they don't really know if you're coming back or not.
