It's probably because the top tiers are becoming known as "high school" sororities. They're probably trying to make it look like they aren't.

This is so stupid and not true. There is not a requirement to carry northern, out of state PNMs for two rounds.... no one can make rules like this, not even NPC. No one knows the membership selection criteria of any chapter.

You are crazy. Even NPC can't make that kind of rule for any group. Maybe your chapter made up that rule but it most certainly is not an Ole Miss panhellenic rule. Please stop spreading false information.

Those are all great houses. To get back to Chi O is especially impressive since they have to cut so many so fast. Phi Mu is great and APhi is building strong.
Go to every party and have fun. See where you feel most at home. Be kind and gracious to everyone - it's stressful for actives too. People remember kind behavior. And remember to smile and have fun!

To Jackson Academy long history here, be careful what you say. You are not at Ole Miss High School. There has to be room for girls from other towns and states. I wish you the best, but I certainly would not repeat this and do NOT put all your eggs in one basket. JA is not a given.

I dont think she's bragging, I think she saying that she feels the reason she hasn't been cut by any yet was solely where she went to high school and that if she had gone somewhere they hadn't known her, she probably would have been cut from a lot.
I think this fairly common. At Ole Miss, there are a lot of girls from her hometown that know her and know her personality, and therefore are more likely to vouch for her. It's just how it is.

A similar thing happened to me at the sorority I wanted (and it was one of the most selective). Oh, they loved me, blah, blah, blah -- just not enough to pref me. The problem was, I's ranked other houses low bc I was dead set on this one house. I was crushed. And it was late in the game. I had one other house left and they took me. I wish the "top" house had cut me from the beginning if it was not in the cards because I could have made more strategic decisions as far as how I ranked houses. I know it hurts so much, but please persevere. I know there will more than one house that is excited to meet you and welcome you as a new member. And it was true that I wanted to be where I was wanted, once I got over my hurt feelings. The cuts are brutal here -- it's about sheer numbers as opposed to knowing PNMs.. Houses could fill themselves only with legacies if they wanted. As you continue through this week, the houses that invite you back will actually get to know you. Hugs.
