dirty rushing

You do want to meet the girls in the sororities you are interested in, in fact you will want to meet girls from all the sororities if possible and get to know them. However, if you are being promised a bid at this point you are being dirty rushed. You sound sensible though in realizing you need to keep your options open. So many girls get dirty rushed and don't consider any other options, then bid day comes and they are heartbroken. Good luck to you!

Talking to you and having their friends follow you and talk to you is allowed, but telling you that you have a bid is absolutely not. While they very much might think that you do have a bid to their house, they have NO idea, so take what they say with a grain of salt. But do meet their friends whenever you have the opportunity because it'll help you get a feel for that house!

To beware of bid promising before rush. No one can guarantee anything at this point, and any group that does this is dirty rushing and needs to be turned in for it. Sure, go out and meet the sorority members, but take their interest with a grain of salt (they might also be deciding who to cut) and don't make a fool of yourself with the boys or alcohol.
