Do people actually judge you if you're not in a top sorority? Example: I'm from far out of state and even though I'm a really good student, I have very few connections to any of the top sororities at ole miss. I want to pref alpha phi bc my mom is a legacy and the girls I know there are super nice, but if I tell a random person "oh I'm in alpha phi" will I get judged?

no, you will make tons of new friends no matter where you end up

Sure people generalize sororities, but when it comes down to it, saying "I'm an alpha phi" won't make someone automatically like or dislike you. This website is a bad reflection of how sororities really are on campus. No one cares.

only mississippi hicks want you to think being in a non top sorority is bad. even they know it doesn't matter, but they are jealous you don't live in the state so they use it.

in general everyone stereotypes. every sorority has good and bad stereotypes. but it's quick to leave the stereotype once you talk to someone for about 30 seconds

I am also from far out of state- had no connections and pledged a so called "lower tier" house- this site has a way of making girls feel like s__T for doing so but in reality that is not the case at all- not only do I LOVE my sorority and my sisters (they were actually one of my favorites early on above some of the other "better" houses) but some of my best friends are in other sororities two in so called "top-tiers"- and I have dated guys in so called "top tier" frats that don't judge either. This site is completely addictive but also complete BS. Go where you feel most comfortable and run with it. Good luck!

Yes and no. People who are going to judge will find reason to do so, no matter what. What letters you wear, how those leggings look on you, what you did last night, everything. You do you. \n\n\n\n\n

I have actually only had one experience of someone being judgemental. The girl is in a 'top tier' and I am in a 'middle tier', she's from Mississippi and I'm not. I overheard her talking about how sorry she felt for all those people who had to pledge those 'bottom' sororities. The funniest part of the story is I think she's probably one of the weirdest/awkward girls I have met on campus, kind of one of those fake religious people who can't stop talking about herself.
