I think around 1600 girls rushed last year and around 1480ish accepted bids... that's mostly because girls chose to drop out of recruitment and didn't maximize their options. If girls were more open and willing to give every house and chance the placement rate would be higher

Top tier houses cut the most after the first round due to how variable quota works. Middle tiers cut a good amount but not as much. Early cuts, especially from top tiers, are based heavily on connections, grades and reputation risks.
Don't take cuts personally in the early rounds. And even in later rounds girls get cut who aren't seen as the best fit or who don't have lots of actives pushing for them.

It's rare for someone to be totally cut. However variable quota is probably going to reduce KD, DDD and Chi-O to around 100 (maybe less) for recruitment quota (and they have already chosen their pledge class). Phi Mu, DG, Pi Phi and AOPi could have around 120 to 130. Kappa, Alpha Phi, ADPi and Theta could have around 160 to 180 as their recruitment quota. It will all depend on what each Sorority's starting number is, how many girls register for recruitment and then how many complete the recruitment process. Mississippi/Memphis girls have been known to drop out if they don't get the sorority they want. The main thing is don't fall in love with any one sorority, just go with the process and see what happens.

As others have said, the total cut from each house after Round 1 will depend on how many girls go through recruitment.
Last year, as said, 1600 girls started out. This is approx. how it went-
The top 3 houses had to cut 1000 girls after Round 1,
The next 5 houses had to cut around 800 girls after Round 1.
The other 3 houses cut less than 800 after Round 1.
All houses will make big cuts after Round 1 this year too.
Not all 1600 received bids last year, but most didn't because they dropped out of rush altogether.
Go to every house you are invited to and don't suicide. Good luck!

It's simply not true that the bottom houses had to cut anywhere NEAR 800. They popped backp on girls lists after girls had cut them MULTIPLE times. To say that Aphi, Theta, and Adpi make huge cuts at all is a lie. The whole reason we have variable quota is to push more girls towards those houses and let the top and middle houses be more selective.

Pledge classes are way to big and the sororities are to big. You just can't be selective with a group that big.
