I would die if my mom did any of those things. Luckily, she's super chill. She does hope I love her house, but she's told me to make choices based on what I like, not her.
Now, after this, I'm gonna be looking around for runners though, just to make sure my Mom isn't in town! Haha!

I'm a mom. I will be over the moon if my daughter gets a bid to my house, I've sent in my rec for her and our other friends who are Greek have also sent in their recs. I'm excited for her for bid day, it's an amazing experience! And here's what I plan to do to celebrate with her, because it is a celebration for me, too!
Call and say congratulations and send a bid day basket. And then I will enjoy myself until she calls to tell me about bid day and I will be thrilled to hear from her.
And I plan to do that no matter where she goes.
This is her time in college. Not mine.
#7by: parents on bid day
I don't understand why parents feel the need to be here on bid day. I even know someone whose mom came in from California. My relatives who were in houses years and years ago said no parent would have dreamed of showing up. And there were no Bid Day Baskets or rush week gifts. Maybe it's just me, but I think that's over the top.
Does anyone know when it began and why?

I was already in a sorority and had a friend go through my freshman year. I really wanted her to be in my house even though she was a legacy in another house. My friend really loved my house and friends. However all fell apart on pref round when her mother showed up, picked her up between rounds, and called the legacy house to make sure she was getting a bid there. My friend ended up pleasing her mom and put the legacy house first-she got a bid from them on Bid Day. CRAZY MOM! She dropped out of her house sophomore year because she never felt like she belonged there.

Their moms are notorious for going crazy with their legacies. They use to have alums in the house during pref to pressure legacies. They are known for driving up and down the houses on pref and calling girls and their friends over to their cars to talk to them. When they were caught and told by Panhellenic to leave a couple moms hid in bushes. I sh-it you not.
