ato's house 2016

by: Reasonable Thoughts

it's hard to say who will have the house next year. Here's a reasonable prediction about who might be in ATO's old place next year. Delta Chi has the best shot because of some strong alumni support, and numbers. ZBT and Sammies making plays on the house could be possible but that all depends on their current leases with existing houses. Also a landlord wouldn't let them out of their lease unless they could find someone else to move in (maybe D-Chi). Rumor is some off campus sororities are trying to make some plays. The problem with that is most of the 3 off campus ones have small nationals and no alumni support (as they are so new). Also many of the girls that joined these houses don't want to live in, either for personal reasons or financial (11K a year is the going rate on rent at ATO's with the lowest number living in, around 75-80). Most of these chapters never made any requirement to live in a sorority house and thus can't make them live in. Pike has no intentions of leasing as they plan on building in the upcoming years and leasing would simply cost way to much money and impact their future aspirations. Skulls is still having problems financially after losing their old house to D-Chi, and is low on numbers. I think in the end it will either be D-Chi or another already housed chapter with D-Chi moving into their old place. It will be interesting to see what happens, especially with Delts still being in trouble and rumors Acacia might be delayed in getting back on.

Interesting thoughts. How long of a lease do you think they will need to sign?

probably for however long until ATO can recolonize, much like the Phi Sig and acacia situation. Or until D-Chi can build a house of their own

Its a entire different thing than acacia though, because IU didnt kick them off campus. Their nationals dropped them.

Most of you are wrong and this is why:
-Skulls lost DChi's current house bc they were ~$100,000 in debt. Not at all a serious contestant for the ATO house. Horrible tenants.
-Phi Sig taking DChi's house next year bc they own it and DChi is leasing it.
-Pike only has ~85 brothers INCLUDING their current pledges. That is not suitable numbers to be competitive for the ATO house.
-Pilam... good joke.
-The current housed fraternities are up in the air such as Sammy, ZBT, and DChi.

Rather than just dismissing the unhoused fraternities, you should keep in mind that Pilam for example has close to a hundred members right now and also has strong alumni support. Similarly with a few other fraternities.

Why would ZBT or Sammy be let out of their current leases? According to what you wrote it makes it sound like only DChi could get it. How many guys does DChi have?

DChi has around 110 members including pledges.

Not sure if they have that many members, but anyway, ZBT or Sammy could be let out if they sublet it.

dchi has 120 including pledges and will likely take ATO next year

They'd be crazy to rent to dchi unless they want it destroyed!

Out of all the candidates that could take it, DChi wouldn't destroy it the least. Other housed chapters such as ZBT and Sammy are horrible tenants and treat their houses horribly relative to other chapters.

The last thing ATO needs/wants is to bring a fraternity in who has a history of probation.

Pi Lam has a weak nationals, they have 32 total chapters.. On top of that they've only been on campus for 2 years so they don't even fufill the minimum requirement of living in that house. People underestimate the importance of powerful alumni and Nationals, as it all comes down to money. Sammy and ZBT are locked in those houses and will be for a long time. I honestly think its between Pike and Dchi. D Chi has experience and numbers, but Pike has extremely powerful nationals. We will see...

What are the minimum requirements of living in a house?

Its not necessarily about nationals, but more so how many guys can actually live in there and give ATO the most profit while they lease it. Mostly, it comes down to how many guys can live in.

^ Its all about Nationals, who do you think loans the money for those guys to rent that house? There needs to be a down payment for the rent of that house, and Nationals do the work for that? I'm just saying Pi lam is out of the question.

You clearly don't know how leasing works... ATO is absolutely more concerned with how many guys can fill it so they can maximize profit per person. Nationals can't guarantee that their chapter can have suffice numbers to sign contracts to live in which is primarily what ATO is looking for like any other intelligent organization looking to lease out their property.

Acacia has 28 chapters send colonies while Pilam has 44. Get your facts right. How does acacia have that massive house?

Although Acacia is not a big National, they do have a lot more Alumni connections with money. Pilam is a little bigger, but does have the Alumni connections.
