Definitely approach it with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, but don't put all your eggs in one basket and become involved in other activities first semester. Also look for soph year housing as if you are not going to be living in a house. I cannot tell you how many ladies were scrambling to find somewhere when they did not end up with a bid. You do not have to live on campus to go through recruitment as a soph. I went through while living off campus and got a bid from a house that dropped me after 8 party the prior year.

I was only asking the question about how many did not get bids. I would encourage everyone to stick with rush and realize that even if you don't get your first choice, that all houses are great, all are great national organizations. You can be happy anywhere. Part of rush is a numbers game and has nothing to do with being qualified or not qualified.

I was just answering the girl's question, I don't know where you inferred that I was trying to discourage PNMs from going through recruitment. Calm down and think before you make stupid assumptions.

I would talk to your friends in houses already. Maybe they can invite you to some pre rush parties, over to the house for lunch or introduce you to some of their sisters. If you have close friends in houses pulling for you, it may help. Just remember you need to have friends with influence. They may be too low on the totem pole as sophs. Srs. and Jrs. may have more control over who gets a bid. I know sophs that got the houses they wanted and some that did better than freshmen. It depends on the house and what their numbers are. Some houses have spots for sophs and some don't. Don't worry about it and don't listen to the negative witches who want to flaunt their 'superior' attitudes. Prepare and enjoy the experience. Go in with the attitude that whatever happens, is what is going to happen. Good luck.
