bid to top tier house without connections?

Do top tier sororities typically only extend bids to those who have prior connections to the house, i.e legacies and/or friends in the house? I have the GPA needed to rush, consider myself social and well rounded, and pretty (not trying to be arrogant) but am very worried about not being able to get a bid bc I am from out of state and don't know anyone in any of the houses.

If you're genuine, outgoing and unique, you will be considered. Connections don't necessarily mean anything-my best friends and I are all in "top" houses and none of us knew anyone before rush

Just having the GPA needed to rush isn't enough. No one is impressed by those minimum GPAs so many of you have. The 2.8 is only there because Panhel made us have one.
