how do the recruitment cuts work?
by: LailaIt seems like it varies by school. Where I went before, when you go through the rounds, you list all sororities in order of how interested you are in them. You can list every single sorority if you want or you can leave off the ones you definitely don't want to join. You get your invites before you have to eliminate any, so just in case none your top choices invite you back, you haven't eliminated the bottom ones yet. I read something about IU sorority recruitment that made it sound like you had to make cuts without knowing whether you were getting any invites back to your top choices. Can someone explain the process further?

You must rank every chapter. You must attend every party/event you are invited to each round. If you do not attend, you will be dropped from recruitment...period. The chapters have all of the power, you will have minimal say about where you pledge until preference when you rank your final three. Be very open minded, those "top" chapters can only invite so many people back and if you rank them high early get invited back to one round and then they make their big cuts, you may not get many invitations back. Be sure to keep realistic choices in your rankings.

You don't eliminate any sororities, they eliminate you. You rank your top choices and if those houses rank you too you will get them back. If not, a house from your bottom list will fill the slot. It's basically the same as your first school but you don't know ahead of time, you find out the day of the round.

Oh okay, that is a better system than I was imagining. The way someone wrote it, it sounded like you had to blindly drop houses before you knew what invites you were going to get.
