Advice for Men
by: Senior
Graduating in 2 weeks. Was in a fraternity + workshop for a couple years so I wanted to give my advice for other young men who still might be looking for their place in the world:
1) Don’t get a girlfriend. You won’t marry whoever you date here. A girlfriend will just end up distracting you from other important things in your life. Focus on yourself in college and figure out who you are, not who someone else is.
2) Join a workshop if you can. The real world is a cruel mean place. You will only ever be loved or respected for the amount of money you make. A workshop guarantees you a high 5 figure, low 6 figure job. Put in the extra work and get into one. Will make the job search much easier. Plus after graduating, every single girl you ever speak to will care about how much you make even if you have family money. Jobs are important and why you are here. Make sure to stay focused on the goal.
3) Save money. Should be self-explanatory. Don’t graduate broke. It’s nice to have a little nest egg saved for after you graduate.
4) Start working at Roy’s or Sports when you’re an upperclassman. After you turn 21 most of your time will be spent at the bar and not your fraternity. If you work at the bar, you’ll get free cover, free drinks, make money, and get to skip the line.
5) Dont take your time here for granted. Mentally I still feel like a freshman who just got here instead of someone moving to Manhattan in a month. College goes by fast. Kiss that girl, go to that party, and tell your boys you love them.
