Reneging from IB for Tech Sales @ Startup

I was recently offered a FT Tech Sales position at a Startup. Base comp is $80k and I will also receive commission and equity in the company. Obviously there is a IB Bias at IU & Kelley in general but I’m curious to see what people would think. I have an IB Internship lined up in NYC for a top MM bank, but the idea of moving to Silicon Valley and pursuing the tech side of business sounds much more appealing to me. Am I shooting myself in the foot not going into IB. I really hate the idea of being a wage slave and burning out of finance within 2-3 years.

You can hit it out if the park if you get stock options. Also you are in SV abs will make TONS of connections with people at other start ups. Companies are DESPERATE for people with finance degreees. You can always go back to that later if tech sales is not for you.
