Should i still rush with a 2.9 gpa?
by: freshmanI struggled a lot during first semester and as of right now it looks like i’m going to finish with a 2.96 gpa. I know this is above the requirements for rush but will I still be cut from a bunch of chapters just for this? I can i expect to have a decent recruitment with this GPA? How many chapters would cut be solely based on this and nothing else?

GPA alone should not deter you from trying to rush, there will be some houses that will still be super excited to meet you! That being said when you get your first list back keep your expectations pretty low. GPA is a major factor for quite a few chapters but chapters that cut you for your GPA are likely chapters that don’t share your values anyways.

Talk to ur rho gam. I’m p sure you’re allowed to write chapters a letter explaining why you have under a 3.0. That being said, houses can di whatever they want with that info and cut you either way, but if you make a good impression when talking to them it can totally counter that!

GPA does matter because it can affect standing of the house, but if u make a good impression people easily can look past it. Also I would recommend you write down some goals for yourself and try to reach them. Most people dont get bad gpas because they are stupid, its because they struggle to work hard. I bet you got this in the bag. Make some goals and strive to achieve them. Good luck
