Non Generic Advice 4 Sisterhood Round

by: Gooo Panhel

This is going to be long af but worth the read if you’re a pnm. We all know you’re not supposed to be on here but here we are so while I have your attention I wanted to give you all some advices for Sisterhood Round!
I’m sure you’ve noticed by now most of the advice about recruitment you can find anywhere on the internet is extremely generic and usually not that helpful. ~Hopefully~ this is some mostly non generic advice you can actually use for your recruitment right now. The things I recommend you ask about / talking points will help you rank & fill conversation with no awkward silences AND really impress us that you’re asking about those things.

22 Advices for 22 Houses:
1. Know if you got 8-9 houses back (no matter how many of them you didn’t rank in your top 9) you’re very lucky! a lot of people will have much less
2. If you’ve just faced pretty harsh cuts (or did last round) remember both you and your friend that has had a full list every time can only join one house. You don’t need 16 or 9 or even 2 houses you just need one.
3. You are allowed to be upset when you get cut & it only makes sense to be upset when you get cut by any of the houses but the house you’re meant to be in won’t pass you up so don’t let that define your recruitment
4. If any of your friends that were super excited to be in a sorority all semester are thinking about dropping because of their list encourage them to stick it out and give their houses a shot, they’ll thank you later
5. If YOU are thinking about dropping because of your list, ask yourself if you wanted to be in a sorority for the right reasons. Do you want to find forever friends, have a badass time the rest of college, and be a member of an 100-150 yr old org the rest of your life or did you want to impress frat boys?
6. Don’t go into any of your rounds already thinking you love or hate a house because of blah blah blah. Truly try to get to know each of your houses based on your own experiences and opinions
7. Sisterhood round is the first time you get a good idea of the houses that are seriously considering you for membership so take each of them as seriously as they’re taking you!
8. Don’t forget there are still two more rounds of drops after this. every house has to make cuts every round and it’s almost never something personal or because you did something wrong and definitely not because we hate you! A lot of the time we simply think you’d make a better fit at other chapters so the girls at ABC don’t hate you just because the few girls you talked to thought you’d like the girls in XYZ better in the long run. Try not to get too hung up on your cuts
9. 9 to 2 party is probably the first time for most of you that you’ll have a real say in which houses you get back. You’ll want to rank each house very carefully on your list for pref & taking notes after each round is a great way to help you out with this
10. This is a great time to ask about housing! Even if the chapter you’re at doesn’t have a chapter house they often still have many sisters living in the same apt complex so you can ask about this. For housed chapters I recommend asking about how their rooms are set up, roommate situation (is it random, do you room w your big, etc.), and fooooood (what type of stuff do you guys normally eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner at the house?)
