not really sisterhood, philanthropy or leadership
by: OldcatladyWhy do sororities put up with the tier system? "Top tier" houses playing into this game of being proud of their rank when it's based on the MEN they are associated with vs what THEY as a group of women value?!?!?! This the exact opposite of what the founding women would want their organizations to be about.

You cannot place the blame for the tier issue on the “top” sororities alone. I can guarantee you that women join these chapters and have friends there — there are strong bonds, academics, and philanthropy in these chapters too. The idea that these chapters are just there because they want to pair with the top frats is BS. The tier system is the result of years and years of culture at IU. It’s not the fault of any one group.

You will notice the newish sororities are in the bottom. The tier system helps no one. It creates divisions that don’t need to be.
