unhoused it is......

by:

Didnt really vibe with any of the houses I got back. I may be looking at the unhoused sororities. I can’t bring myself to pay $10000 a year for a house I don’t love and with the unhoused I at least get a little taste of the Greek life while being a little free to do as I please. Am I on the right path? Or is there something I’m seriously missing?

You have met like 2 percent of all the houses. Ok if unhoused is your way to go that is great. Hopefully you get those opportunities

You get more than a little taste of sorority life in an unhoused chapter! They still do all the things housed chapters do, they just don't all share a living space. Also, in almost every chapter the upperclassmen live out, so no different!! You get what you put into any chapter. If you don't go to events, pairs or opportunities to hang out you won't make friends. Same as if you were a new member at any chapter.

not exactly true in this sense because if you live in a house (or with other sisters ig) they still see you before bed/at meals etc. so it makes it a little easier

You state $10k to live in a sorority. Compare that to living in an apartment and you’ll see it’s the same or less. In a sorority that includes meals, utilities, internet, cable and room. An apartment lease will be 12 months. So $10k/ 12 mos = $833/mon.
Rent for most newer apartments will be around $650-$700/mon. Add utilities and food and you’ll be over $833/month. Even room and board in a dorm will be at least $10k

But in an apartment you can have your own room/bathroom, eat when you want (most houses have meals at a certain time and if your not there your in your own), you can have alcohol in your apartment, you can have guests/boyfriends spend the night. You have more freedom with the benefits of a sisterhood so it kind of depends on your preference

I know the unhoused chapters have housing plans so rent will be about $500 max so it would be much more affordable. just ask the chapters when you go back!

I live in a freshly renovated apartment and pay under 520 a month... not every apartment costs an ungodly amount so unhoused can be cheaper and still the same experince.

Are you positive the houses you got back are not for you? I’d give them a chance before giving up on a traditional house.

In a house Vs apartment:
House - meals are prepared for you. You can always request a late plate. No dishes to clean. No grocery shopping (important when you have $0 left!)
Apartment: The opposite of above, plus roommates that eat your food (because they have no $0!) and roommates that have no idea how to clean a kitchen and leave their dirty dishes in the sink!!
House: House cleaners That leave your bathroom sparkling clean every day.
Apartment: Nasty dirty bathrooms, because you or your roommates are to lazy to clean up after themselves.

I loved living in the house! I realized I have the rest of my life to live in an apartment. However, this is the only time I will ever have the chance to live with my sisters. There was always someone up for doing things and it was fun. I don't think we would have had as tight of a bond if we didn't experience living together in the house.
Sure there were rules. Being able to have a boy stay overnight was not an issue because I'm not going to hook up and have a guy stay all night. My chapter allowed you to request late plates (I don't know any chapter that doesn't.) Sure there was alcohol in the house and it wasn't allowed, but girls were smart about it.
