by: jwwhy did so many smart/hot girls get dropped by every house but dphie and asa last year? is that a normal thing to happen and should be expected this year too?

some girls slip through the cracks but usually decently attractive girls with nice personalities will always make it somewhere. The real problem is girls dropping out of recruitment completely when they don’t get the house they want and they’re not really “dropped” they just didn’t give other houses a chance.
Another problem is that really attractive girls tend to favor the top houses so when they are at bottom houses those sisters assume that’s where the girl will end up. They don’t give a bid to that girl because they would rather give it to someone who they think would likely actually want them back aka it’s not “wasted”

It’s really annoying when people act like girls are shallow for not liking ASA or Dphie. The person below is talking about how bad it is to end up in a top house and not like the girls, but at least there you have clout. How garbage would be to end up in a bottom tier house where you get along with no one?
These houses get routinely made fun of, so it’s stupid to sit here and act like people are shallow for avoiding literal bullying. Most girls don’t want to end up in a “top house” they just want something decent.

Just because you don’t want to be in DPhiE or ASA doesn’t mean you are shallow or not giving girls a chance. Sometimes you just know you don’t connect with them and you don’t have anything in common.

Playing devil’s advocate. So your saying you cannot? or won’t ?connect with any of those girls. Really? Have you met All of them? I promise you have not met a whole house during recruitment. Give ALL houses a shot.

I didn’t reply to you but. I had extremely negative experiences at both of those houses. I was so relieved when I finally didn’t have to go back to them

That "clout" you are going for right now through rush, will only matter during your time at IU. When you graduate and get in the real world, no one cares! People may have heard of your chapter, but unless they went to school at IU they have no clue of the "tiers" and where your chapter was at in them. Joining a sorority is about the friends you make to spend time with in college and after. You will be able to use the common bond of your sorority to make connections with women from all over the country who share your letters, but went to different schools. Those connections can help you with job searches, making new friends if you move somewhere new, etc. That is what being a sister is about. It's about the long term relationships not just getting into the best frat party.

You're probably not as smart or hot as you think you are if you get dropped by everything except those two sororities. I'm rushing this semester and while I don't know where I'm going to end up yet (eek!), I can confidently say I won't be joining dphie or asa (im an instagram influencer with 28k followers). lol.
