rush help for pnms

by: pnms!read!

All houses are great. Plz keep that in mind. There are so many different chapters here for a reason! There are usually over 1.5k girls that go through rush and they’re not all the same believe it or not! Everyone has different interests, personalities and reasons for rushing! That’s why there are so many different chapters and even Greek councils at iu! For PNMs rushing through Panhellenic recruitment here are my tips for you: Your Rho Gam is your tool - use her to the best of your ability she’ll help you out throughout the whole process and is there to support you! She never wants you to feel uncomfortable through runs so ask her literally anything!! Don’t talk bad about other chapters during recruitment - it happens every year and girls immediately get dismissed from recruitment if a rho gam or panhel exec hears about you bashing certain chapters. Keep an open mind - I know everyone says this but it’s true. Unless you could never ever see yourself in one of the chapters you have for pref, you can always drop recruitment and rush again next year, or do informal in the fall. Grades do matter - as much as people might say they don’t, certain chapters change their gpa requirements every year based upon their overall gpa. Most require above a 3.0, but if a girl in a chapter really likes you or if you have a certain interest or extracurricular that stands out, you’re more likely to get asked back. That’s why extracurricular and outside interests are super important to talk about during rush - it also helps chapters to get a sense of your personality and if you’ll fit in to the chapter. Make friends - be friendly to everyone in your rush group, you’ll never know if you’ll end up in the same chapter as them or even stay friends after recruitment (also don’t be rude to other girls during rush/belittle the chapters that they got asked back to because it reflects poorly on you and the house that you might eventually end up in!!!). All in all just be nice, respectful and friendly. Recruitment is such a crazy time but I guarantee it pays off because not only do you have the opportunity to be welcomed into an incredible new community but you also learn so much about yourself and who you are. It’s really an incredible experience.
