help a girl out

what are the chapters that are unhoused or do not have a live in requirement?

I’ve already signed a lease and I really don’t want to sleep in some cold dorm or something like I want my own space and less rules

don’t listen to the person above, a bunch of girls last year already signed leases and still got into chapters whether they were housed or not. it might limit some options but I’m in a decent sorority and live out even tho I’m a sophomore

ASA is the only currently unhoused chapter and Dphie and TPA will be unhoused next fall

first off, the lease on the DPhiE house lasts 5 years so they have until 2022. And second of all, you clearly don't know wtf you are talking about so get off the cite geed. But yeah TPA is losing the house so that sucks

Most houses only have a 1 year live in requirement but most people live in for 2 so just fulfill that your junior year and you’ll still be with your pc

TPA and ASA will be unhoused all the rest are housed. But most will work with you if you have a lease. But you will have to live in at some point 1-2 years agreement m, depends on sorority.

tpa voted to leave the house theyre in now instead of renewing with delts. they are pulling a pike thing and they will basically all be in a big apartment complex together. wouldn’t be the worst idea with dirt cheap rent and boys/alc whenever you want. they did it before and had a lot more girls than they do now since they’re so expensive rn. but food and cleaning won’t be provided like it would be at houses sororities if you do the apartments. they also have the option to move back into a different house eventually but idk what they have going on

asa is unhoused nationally and they all kinda spread out and do their own thing. they’re all pretty close even though they don’t live in one place but just know that they will never get a house at this campus so don’t expect it to happen when you’re a junior/senior

dphie is housed currently on third street but will most likely lose it in a year or two whenever their lease ends.

I know theta won’t force you to live in the house or at least not right away. They have quite a few sophomores living out rn and you just have to pay the live out dues on the financial sheet.

as one of the posts above said unless it strictly says you must live in the first year or two years, then you could probably get out of the requirement and do the apartment instead

Do you even go here?

First of all: ASA is not unhoused nationally. There are ASA chapters with houses. It just happens that many schools where ASA has a chapter are not campuses where sororities have housing.

TPA got screwed by Delts because TPA rushed into the contract to beat out other frats. However what they didn't realize is that fraternity housing corps would rather lease to sororities because of the damage frats to do a house. This is why Phi Psi only seriously considered sororities when they were kicked off and why Sigma Kappa was the only chapter Kappa Sig's housing people even seriously talked with. I think they are making a good decision for them. TPA as a group was happier when they had the apartment block and could all live together, do what they wanted and have house parties there on their premises.

DPhiE cannot afford that house much longer. Their national paid for it for the first two semesters. They did not make quota and took very few women in the fall. They realistically will not be able to afford the house much longer.

XO will have a major live in requirement until things get straightened out. They have to fill the house, but offer nothing in return. No social events, pairs, etc.

OP, if you like a chapter and are still there second weekend, talk honestly with them. If they really want you, you should be able to work something out. I know people who have.

Dphies house looks small compared to others. I don’t think they need quota to fill it. Just sayin...

Girl cold dorms are the worst so I don’t blame you!!! Your best bet is ASA or TPA. You can still have the fun of being in a sorority but go back to your own apartment at the end of the day and do your own thing (party, study, have boys over, get some peace and quiet for sleeping, whatever). I know some chapters will let you live out your first year, but they’d rather take someone who actually wants to like in (aka pay the money to live in). You can always ask around though! I’m sure some chapters will be willing to work with you.
