most bottom houses know their place and just work with what they got. If anything it’s the middle tiers that are constantly self ranking and trying to be top

DPhiE is rough and you will go back. Top tiers are bad if you aren’t meant for them and you will be uncomfortable. They will be nice to you still but drop you. ASA rush at IMU because no house. Also very uncomfortable because they will take anyone and if you don’t want a unhoused sorority it’s just annoying. First round sucks because you go to all houses but later on you go to ones you’re a better fit for

Seriously if u can’t go into it with a open mind. Don’t rush. ALL the houses have pairs/social events(no matter what you have Been told) However not all the houses allow alcohol so take that into account. Also some have restrictions put on by their nationals. I rushed but dropped (thinking of informal now)and know about most of their info. Looking back I would consider the houses differently . Do they allow drinking, what is the live in situation(cold dorms? Singles? How many sisters to a room?) location(the bus in winter sucks), what is their philanthropy how do I feel about it?. Can I see myself making a difference ?

The worst house is the one that's not a good match for you. Be honest with yourself about what you are looking for through your membership. Are you looking for access to parties 7 nights a week? Are you looking for a chapter that recognizes high academic performance and provides mentors? Are you looking for a house with strong sisterhood? Figure out what you want and do your research. The houses that are considered "top" on this site party harder and have low GPAs (APhi, Kappa, Pi Phi). That is what the ranking is all about! Those that focus on involvement and academics earn the top GPA year in and year out (Theta, ADPi, AOPi, Phi Mu). Those with strong sisterhood retain their seniors. A lot of other houses will see high rates of drops once members turn 21. (Ask about that during recruitment. How many seniors are there??). Go in with an open mind and ask questions to figure out where you fit and not what some random website says is "best".

I would not recommend asking how many seniors there are during recruitment they will think that is weird and you'll probably get dropped from that house. ask around before recruitment to see the retention rates - do NOT ask during recruitment
