sorority gpas
by: curiousHow much does your GPA and academics matter for sorority rush? Does it help you get a bid especially in top tier houses? Or is it not super important to sororities for rush

Well, there is a minimum GPA to even go through rush and most houses have standards that may be higher than that minimum so if you only have a GPA that is the bare minimum then expect to have limited options on what houses might invite you back.
GPA isn't the only thing considered but it is an easy factor that can get you cut early if it isn't strong unless you have a lot of other factors going in your favor.

GPA doesn't matter at all for the most part.....especially with the "top tier" ones. I know a girl who didn't even make grades to go through rush but "appealed" (surely with her parents attorneys help) and on the last day was choosing between two "top tier" If you have money and know someone you are in.

yah i knew a girl who didn't make grades freshman year to rush. Didn't even go through formal rush her sophomore year but got a snap BID from A Phi. Clearly that is what A Phi is up to this fall signing up for Informal. They know who they want and don't care about grades etc.

You have to meet a minimum GPA to register for recruitment. Most chapters have a slightly higher standard. The chapters that are consistently top of the academic rankings like Theta, AOPi, ADPi, etc are much more serious about cutting based on grades. The chapters that are focused on parties above all else just don't care. APhi, Kappa, Pi Phi focus on what you look like, not how smart you are.
