real rush tips

I rushed in fall 2017 and here are some things I would've done differently.

Find a house that fits you, not because of tiers. I accepted my bid because my house was a decent house in the tiers. Through pledge ships, I didn't fit in well and it's not a great experience.

Find a house that you think will survive the current IU system. Houses getting kicked here and there. I kind of knew my chapter was going to get kicked just by the way the brothers were acting.

Rush spring. If you have high school connections, good, build them up, ask them if you can come to their parties during fall, get to know the brothers in their house first and then rush spring. If you don't have connections, go to stacks, make friends, join a business frat, get some connections and then rush spring.

Don't try to act cool during rush. I've seen kids play the role of the stereotypical 'frat dude' and it's so annoying. Be genuine and find common interest, that's how the brothers will remember you. Quality over quantity in conversations.
