the problem that will bring down greek life
by: GreekThe tier system will be the ultimate detriment to IU. IF you want pretend it’s not real or not a problem, you are engaging in it. The tier system is what prevents greek life from feeling any real unity. Socials of lower tier houses not getting responses from fraternities creates a divide. The way immediate judgements are made based on being in an upper or lower house divide us. The tier system is the thing that makes those outside of Greek life laugh in our faces when we talk about the importance of the high ideals of Greek chapters. The tier system is essentially infighting and if we cannot have unity amongst ourselves Greek life will be in serious trouble.

Surprisingly I'll bet DphiE does not want to pair with Pi Kapps, either. They would rather go where they know people and know they will have a good time. I know that there are chapters where I have friends and I enjoy going to more than other chapters. It doesn't mean I don't like the chapters where I don't have as much fun, I just prefer other places. No shade.

As the alumni guy said last week in the really long post, the issue is the disciplinary system. The is literally all that maters. Worrying about the tier stuff is pointless. If the fraternity system doesn’t stabilize, tiers won’t matter because there will only be a handful of fraternities left. We are losing two chapters a year and they are usually gone for four or more years. In less than 10 years, there will be no fraternities at IU unless the system changes or IFC goes independent now.
