If they haven't been called already, they aren't getting a snap. Most snaps occurred today. Only a handful were going out. Snaps can only occur before bid day.

The women on your floor may be eligible for COB which will not start until maybe Thursday at the earliest.

COB is Continuous Open Bidding. Chapters who do not make Quota, or who did but are below Chapter Total Membership, can offer bids anytime after bid day. Usually chapters will just quietly reach out to individuals they are interested in if they are only going to offer a few bids. Chapters that want larger numbers may hold COB events. COB is not like formal; it is not organized through panhellenic and houses can choose to do it or not, and there are not a lot of bids to be had. If you are interested in COB, let the sorority know (recruitment chairman.) It helps if you know sisters in a house you are interested in. Again, there are not a lot of bids this way.

IU has no campus total . We only started a standard quota in the last few years. And I believe this is the first year every house is being required to take quota additions. (Last few years it was optional)

IU is not the same as other campuses, we are making progress but it has been small changes each year .

Yes, but each house needs to keep up above a certain number to be financially viable and each house does have their target number.

Snap bids are rare. Esp with the size of IU rush. Do not hold your breath in hopes of a snap bid.

P..S. Quota additions being optional in past years (and not even used at all prior to 3-4 years ago) was the reason women would go to pref , write down all their options and still not get a bid.

Also each house set their own quota up until 3-4 years ago . So DDD would take 30 while adpi took 60-80 simply because adpi has a bigger house. And that’s right my friends the majority of why adpi is tiered lower because they have a larger house . And guess who ran all over campus saying the smallest house was best.....DDD

Unlike any other campus smaller was considered better at IU, and that thought prioress left 100-300 women who attended pref Bidless..... NPC has been trying to force IU Panhellenic to change for years.

This history is WHY so many women on here say if you get a bid to any house take it and make that house better.

If you are invited to any COB events go and give that house a fair chance.

I just got a snap bid...

by: possibly

Yes, that is possible. Not every was able to be contacted this afternoon and some women decline snaps even if they are offered.

OR you are a troll here to stir up trouble. Because when you are called, part of the script it that you keep it confidential until bid night.

Why would anyone give out a snap bid before bid night? Their pledge class has to to be in a dumpster fire to send them out already....

Well, they can't snap AFTER bid night, so what's your point?

Snap bids are given out the same day as Bid day. A girl must have dropped out of recruitment in order to get a snap bid. You will be contacted several hours prior to gong to the tennis center. You will also have to decide on the spot whether or not to accept the snap bid. If you accept, you’ll show up at the tennis center with everyone else, recurve a bid card and no one other than the chapter and. The Rho Gam know you are a snap.

How are you eligible to receive a snap bid?

Do you have to let Panhel know you might be interested in a snap bid?

By: Informal
by: ??

No, if a chapter wants to snap bid you they'll take care of it through Panhel and your rho gam. Don't count on getting one as they aren't that common, especially for the more popular chapters. If you're being extended one you'll get a call.

Are snap bids bad or good?

A snap bid is a BID!!! It means you are getting a second chance where before you weren't going to get anything! Yes, a snap bid is good!

Ok I’ll try to explain snap bids...

Let’s say quota is 55 and iurvexample sorority is ABC

ABC made an A list of their top 55 PNMs who attended pref they want in random order but only match to 30 of them

ABC made a B list of their next 55 PNMs who attended that they want in order , so the computer tries to match them one by one , this process matches ABC to another 24 women .

Which means ABC now is handing out 54 bids. And btw ABC could be any tier, since top houses have to release so many women they sometimes come up 1 or 2 short when their A list and B list picks chose the other preference house they attended.

This is when snap bids come in to play ABC picks from a list of women who dropped out ot were released from rush (if you suicide after pref you can’t get a snap ) then generally the rho gam calls ABCs first choice to snap and she says yes or no . If she says yes then ABCs NM class is complete . If she says no the next woman is contacted.

Thus why it is rare, especially with XO being pulled most houses will wind up with quota additions rather than having to snap.

BTW if you do get snapped up with a snap bid my advice don’t tell anyone .....cause only your rho gam and rush committees at your future house will know and they will be happy for you. Join the rest of your NM class and enjoy!!!

Actually, NPC rules do allow a snap bid for those who suicide after pref. Pnm's who suicide are not eligible to be quota additions. And, an interesting fact is that quota additions don't count toward filling quota, so it's possible for a chapter to take quota additions and still snap to whatever quota is.

Great explanation in the answer above. Most important point is don't expect a snap bid. These rarely happen. Hundreds of women dropped recruitment and are eligible whereas there may only be a handful of snaps extended. However, if you are regretting your decision to drop consider COB or informal. Many more women join a chapter this way. The door is still open for those of you who are already regretting having dropped. For those that take a chance on a chapter through COB or informal, you will probably look back next year and laugh at how foolish it was to drop. You will love your sisters and your chapter--even though it may not have been your favorite during these past two weeks. It all depends on how much you really want to be Greek.

Snap bidding occurs immediately following the bid-matching process, which includes quota additions if applicable, and ends at the time bids are distributed. Chapters not matching to quota are
eligible to snap bid. Chapters should prepare a snap bid list after submitting their bid list. PNMs who are unmatched and participated in at least one recruitment event are eligible to receive a snap bid. A PNM may be offered more than one snap bid at a time, so it is best for the fraternity/sorority advisor
or the College Panhellenic president to be the person contacting PNMs. The individual should make it clear to the PNM how many opportunities she is receiving and that she will be bound to the selection if she chooses to accept. During snap bidding, the College Panhellenic recruitment officer monitors who
has accepted snap bids and presents the MRABA for the PNM to sign.
