Is rushing again as a sophomore worth it? Also will chi omega end up doing informal?

No and no. Chi Omega is pretty much done for and rushing as a sophomore is much harder. You might be able to get a “better” house, but those chances aren’t great.

There’s like a 1% chance you do better as a sophomore decide if it’s worth it to be a GEED for that one percent chance

ABSOLUTELY worth it to rush as a sophomore. You will be a year older and honestly probably much more confident and comfortable with the process. You will know more about yourself and will have had a year being a “geed” to make friends outside Greek life, see what else IU has to offer, and generally just do your own thing. I rushed as a sophomore and got my top pick. Don’t listen to the scare tactics. Almost every single chapter has several sophomores in each PC.

Not every chapter takes sophomores. There are about a handful of chapters that take no sophomores or only sophomore legacies. There are chapters who take 1-5 sophomores and all of them have a previous connection to the house. Then there are chapters who take multiple sophomores and they may or may not be chapters you are interested in.

@do it!
Did you rush as. Sophomore for the first time or after a failed freshman Rush ?

That make a HUGE difference

And to rush as a sophomore you need stellar grades, lots of activities and real friends already in sororities.

No and no. XO is over and will be gone just like tri delt was. The only way u can have a better rush as a sophomore is if u get very very very close to a bunch of members of one house. That usually won't happen and trying to do it just for an in is so obvious. Take what the system gives u since now is the best chance u have to go greek

If you’re rushing again because you didn’t like the chapters that we’re giving to you/didn’t like the tier, its not worth it. Yes, you can grow and change a lot in one year but if you’re going in with the mindset that you deserved better do not waste another year and do not waste any of our 22 chapters’ time with this because they are all wonderful in their own way: I rushed for the first time as a sophomore and half of my group were sophomores who had rushed before and didn’t like the chapters they were invited back to freshman year. They rushed again as sophomores and almost all of them dropped for the same reason.

With that in mind, if you dropped because of other circumstances or it was too overwhelming, etc. I think it could be worth a try if you have an open mind.

I dropped as a freshman before pref and re rushed this year as a sophomore and ended up preffing 2 houses that I absolutely love. I was super sad after I dropped because I felt so rejected by the entire process. It can work out better the second time, but it is harder. I’d say about half of my rho gam group of all sophomores (some re rushing and some rushing for the first time) dropped, and it’s looking like only 3 of us r going to chapters that aren’t considered “bottom tier”. So if you dropped because you didn’t get a top house and you want to try to re rush into a top house, re rushing probably isn’t a good idea. But come fall if you still want to re rush and have a more open mind and more confidence I would say to do it for sure. You really have nothing to lose, but you should expect to be heavily cut because you’re a sophomore. Nobody in my rho gam group got a full list for any of the rounds because some chapters just prefer freshmen. Try to get involved over the next year, get to know some women in chapters if you can, and when rush comes be yourself and be super excited to talk to everyone. It’s easy to slip through the cracks, so just because you didn’t find your home this year doesn’t mean u won’t. I did!

Keep in mind you will be competing with incoming PC 2020 next year.IU rush is competitive as you've seen but as a sophomore it's even more stressful. Only a handful of the chapters take sophomores. Get to know girls in different sororities that's really your best shot. My friend was dropped freshman year and didn't fair much better in the process sophomore year. She got close to a couple girls and basically took the bid from a sorority she didn't want but she's content. The process is the process and the girls rushing you aren't different from the year before. I wouldn't drop. Take the bid that you get and make it the best experience of your life.
