for pnms--what's coming

by:

When you receive your invites for 9 round, know that you may likely have lost a lot of chapters that you think you really connected with. This is common. Every year there are literally hundreds of pnms who drop from recruitment. Then they sit in their room crying and watching all the girls on their hall go to bid night and start all the sorority fun and DEEPLY REGRET their quick reaction. DO NOT be one of those girls!!

You signed up for recruitment because you see the value in the Greek experience. You want to make the most of your college years and have lifelong sisterhood! Do not give up because your ego is bruised.

If you have a single invite left, go to that party!!! You never know how you might feel. Do not base your decisions off of this stupid website or people's opinions (positive or negative) about a chapter. You have only met a few sisters of the 150-200 that exist. I can assure you that you could find some great friends within EVERY single chapter on this campus. Once you get initiated, you will in fact make friends with members of every single chapter. And you will be surprised, in hindsight, how much more alike we are than we are different.

You may think that you are "too good" for some chapters on this campus. News flash...you are not. Every single chapter has a wonderful experience to offer. Some chapters are more party oriented. Some are more studious. But, every single chapter offers an opportunity to have way more fun that you will have if you drop out.

So, when you get your invites back, and XYZ chapter, that you were sure you were going to pledge, isn't there. You can have a moment of silent mourning. And then brush off your ego and put your smile on your face. Go and make the most of what is available to you.

Then, on Tuesday, if you see your bid and it is your second choice, I ask you to do the same thing again. Do not go ready to cry. Go in with an attitude that everything happens for a reason. If you spend the semester getting to know more sisters in a real way and you still don't feel any connection at all, you can drop. At least then you will be able to look back and know that you weren't a quitter. You will feel far better about it years to come than the girls that quit when they got their invites for 9 round.

Good luck to all of you. Stay positive and know that there are chapters that really want YOU to be part of their sisterhood.

READ THIS AND TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. And don't drop thinking you're going to get a snap bid because that is very rare and more than likely won't happen

PNMs I’m sorry but you’re about to experience very harsh cuts and you may be left with only houses you’ve already decided you don’t want please prepare for this and stick through it even though you’re disappointed we all felt this way at some point during recruitment (unless you’re the one or two girls that got cut from 0 houses lol) and now LOVE our houses whether they’re bottom middle or top. If you choose to stick through the process you’ll see how amazing each and every single one of our houses are because Greek life is very exclusive here no matter the chapter!

When I got my list back for 9 party I only had 3 chapters left and I couldn't see myself in any of them. I took advice that was very similar to this post and now I love my sorority! 4 years later I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Please continue and let the process work!!

I know many of you are reading this and saying, this won't be me. Odds are it will be. Read this post and know that when you get cut from houses you loved it isn't always about them not liking you. More often than not its just a numbers game. Every round we have to drop girls we really liked because there just isn't enough room. It's nothing against you, its just the way the process works.

When you get your list back, take time to get over the hurt, don't make a snap decision to drop. Go to the parties you have. This is the round where I saw the most girls drop once they got their list back. Every house has something to offer. Good luck. You're nearing the finish line.

Yep! They are reading this and saying "NOT ME". Chill. It happened to so many of us. We just opted not to quit. Get over that immediate feeling of rejection and press on. You won't regret it.

Sad but true I know I would've been reading this thinking oh but I'll be fine. I've seen the return numbers ladies, expect very harsh cuts for almost everyone you know. A lot of people will have 5 or less houses that they already have biases against but you all have the advantage and option of joining a house with a group of your friends that are in similar situations. Don't let your ego ruin this chance for you
