traditions?

My mom, dad, sister, and friends all had/have fraternities name girls as "sweet hearts" and have "pinning."
Does IU do that? I feel like we lost that tradition and I have never heard of a fraternity doing either of those here. :(
It's not just a southern thing because all the people I listed aren't from the south! Why don't we do those?

of the fraternities here do have sweethearts each year. Next time you are out at your pair, take a look at the composites and you will see the sweetheart for that year. As far a "pinning" goes, there is a system for how it works. If i'm not mistaken "pinning" is the step that comes after being "lavaliered". Both of these still exist at IU but the houses that still have this tradition tend to be secretive about it because it is a pretty big deal when it happens. Its only supposed to be done when a couple is serious enough that they might actually get married in the future. One of the seniors in my house last year got lavaliered last year but she was the only girl that was allowed to be there.

Really? okay well then that's probably why I haven't heard about getting pinned/lavaliered! thanks!
and I'll for sure take a look at the composites next time! maybe my sister's campus is just more vocal about those things than IU is.
