2.8 gpa requirement for frats?
by: PNMI've been hearing that the IFC is actually strict with new gpa requirment of 2.8 for spring classes? If I'm at a 2.6 does this mean I am not even allowed to rush? When registering on the IFC website it says a 2.8 is required for eligibility.

Pledgeship would most likely hurt your gpa even more. Honestly don't think you should consider rushing until you figure out your academics. Dont be that guy who gets into a frat just to get pulled out of school transfers the next semester because of grades. There are few kids in my pledge class that this happened too. College and greek life is dope, but it's only 4 years of your life. Academics can really mess up your career and life after college.

If you can’t make grades, you have to think about what that communicates to fraternity members, especially rush chairmen. I look at it this way (and I’m sorry if this is harsh), there is a reason you have a 2.6 GPA. Classes are easiest freshman year and things are only going to get harder. Maybe you had a little too much fun or maybe you aren’t academmically prepared for college. Maybe it’s an issue of self control. Those things are all viewed as liabilities for chapters. My advice is that you can still rush as a sophomore in the fall. I would respect you a lot more as a rushee if you said, “I screwed up first semester freshmen year and waited to rush because I wanted to make sure I got the important things straightened out first.” You would probably end up in a stronger house
