No. They had a successful fall informal recruitment and their retention is good. They haven't had to pay a mortgage so they are financially ok. Also, why won't people realize that DZ, DG, and ZTA all have fewer members than DPhiE.

I don't think thats true?

It is.. look up the grade reports. I also doubt their national would've signed an expensive lease if there was any chance they wouldn't survive. Stop spreading fake rumors

@pnm-

From the Spring 17 Grade Report:

Delta Phi Epsilon- 132

Delta Zeta- 121

Zeta Tau Alpha- 125

Delta Gamma had more than DPhiE, with 141 members. But, it was only 9 more members.

DPhiE isn't closing anytime soon. Don't listen/start stupid rumors @IU.

It's quality over quantity in many cases. Some chapters may not be larger than DPE, but they are more selective. That is not to say that DPE is not filled with very nice girls. They have a great sisterhood. However, don't judge any chapter by the size. All chapters at IU are doing just fine. No one is in line to lose their charter due to low numbers.

You can't compare them to upper middle tiers based on numbers. The upper tiers are selective and do not take just anyone. DphiE will take just about anyone who wants to join. Women also joined because they could still be in a sorority, but at a much lower cost. Without a house, they do not have the same expenses and its very inexpensive compared to a housed sorority. They may have signed a lease for a couple of years for Tri Delt, but it's not there house. Being a renter is not going to improve their status unfortunately.

Obviously getting a house won't make them top but it will definitely improve their status as it has with every other unhoused chapter that has gotten a house

You're an idiot and have no idea how sororities actually work. Most campuses have a set total for the sororities. IU does not. In many cases, the national organization of each chapter will have a say in how many the IU chapter takes. For example my organization says we have to be at or above the average sorority size since there is no total. DDD was in trouble with their national over this issue. They wanted them to take more women. More women=more money coming in. They refused, enough said. Two of the larger chapters this fall were AXO and SK, two totally different chapters. You cannot make a judgment about being selective.

Chill out DPhiE! You aren't going to move up any time soon. SK is still a lower tier house even though they are in Phi Psi. But really, Phi Psi will be back next year and where is SK going to go? Same with DphiE when Tri Delt comes back. Back to being unhoused.

With that bring said, there are houses for every girl. A DphiE girl is not the same type girl as A top or mid tier house. That's not bad or good...just glad there are different houses for different types of girls. Here's to everyone having a great recruitment!

Such a stupid thing to write. Reality is, most girls could fit in a variety of houses from top to mid to bottom. There is virtually no difference in most of these girls interns of coolness. Every sorority has their share of cool and weird girls. Some more than others, but this is basically true. Girls are being judged in a short period of time and you don’t always get an accurate picture. Also, with 1500+ rushing, obviously only a certain number are getting into top tier, mid tier etc. In the end it doesn’t matter. If you want to be in a sorority, they all do similar social, philanthropic and strive for the best siisterhood. This is what it’s all about. Get over the tiers because all it does is create tears when you don’t land where you think you should. Just find great girls that you jive with. They are in every house.

Recent alum from what was considered a "bottom" chapter at IU.

No chapter at IU is at risk of closing, including dphie. As another person said above, chapters that are about to close do not sign brand new leases.

IMO, having a house will probably make them more attractive to PNMs who love what their sisterhood has to offer but we're hesitant because they want the typical sorority experience. When I rushed, I thought they were sweet but wrote them off because of the housing situation.

They don't strike me as tier climbers. No one is saying they are now going to rise to the top but I do think the house will give them a competitive edge.

It’s good for everyone if unhoused are now housed.

I hope they enjoy the extra bump (competitive edge) they get with being housed! Plus the fun of living together, etc. \n\n\n\n\n

Why does everyone keep saying “when Tri Delta comes back, when they come back.” Understand that when DphiE signed that lease they were told by Tri Delts HQ that they are not coming back. Who knows what the future holds but as long as they continue to grow they could be in that house for years. No ones housing is guaranteed. That was proven by Tri Delta. Anyone could become unhoused or have to “rent”! Either way having a house should help this organization and give it more of a competitive edge. I’m happy to see another organization like DphiE grow and do better than previous years.

Tri Delt most certainly will be back! The location of their hose guarantees it! If Tri Delt had no plans to come back, their national would have sold the house to the university and not lease it for a few years. They would have made more money and IU would have snapped it up in a minute. That was proven with the deal IU made for the old FIJI property across the street!

No one knows what the lease agreement made with DphiE. If I were to guess it's a 4 year deal. That allows all current members to have graduated, giving Tri Delt a new start. Remember, they were not kicked off by the university. Who knows, their national could reinstate the charter allowing them back even earlier!

In the long end, this is a temporary house for DphiE. So PNM 's it's not about the structure, but the women inside that make a sorority.
