sound advice for recruitment
by: TruePNMs need to realize that all the houses at IU are strong houses. What you really need to understand is that there will be hundreds of pretty, smart, and friendly girls who will not receive a bid because of how competitive recruitment is. You will also notice a trend. If a house is doing well and people do not want it to "move up" they will bash it on here. So, if a house has been the topic of conversation and being "attacked", chances are they are doing well for themselves. However, tiers will never change. People simply are too afraid to pair with other houses even though all houses have pretty girls. Every house has attractive and not so physically attractive girls, every house has nice and not so nice girls. Watch the videos that are coming out for the houses. There are beautiful girls in each video and if their name was not attached I guarantee people would think most were in a different tier than what they are. A lot depends on your connections, recommendations, or simply luck of the draw on who talks to you during recruitment. They cannot get to really know you based off a 10-15 minute conversation. They are making a snap decision. Please realize this when you get cut from houses. Accept all invitations back with a grateful attitude. Every house has a variety of personalities and talents. Every house has girls you will like and girls you won't like. Every house pairs with fraternities to party. Every party has music, dancing, and alcohol. Your experience will be the same no matter where you are. Do not read into the negative things written on here. It is only people trying to bring another house down that they are threatened by and trying to raise themselves. Watch the videos and see what the sorority has chosen to focus on. That will tell you a lot about the house. Is it just partying? Do they show a variety of interests? Do they only have a few girls in the video or did they include a large portion of their house? This is a way to get a small idea of what a house is about. Go in with an open mind and if you like the "feel" of the house and enjoyed yourself then go with your gut feeling and forget the negative stuff you hear. This was long, but true

I agree with all of the OP except for that tiers don't won't change. If you ask an alumni which houses were "top tier" 15 years ago, you will NOT get the same answer as if you ask a current student.
Also, tier consideration is very middle-school ish. Let that go.
Finally, remember: you have to LIVE WITH the girls in the house you choose/chooses you. If you base your decision on some arbitrary post about tiers on GR, you might end up miserable. Choose the house with the people you feel like you could LIVE with (not just go to some parties with). Living is 24/7

Tiers are opinions of random people who come on greek rank to post their opinion. Mostly to try to move their house up one or two spots. It is all ridiculous and based off of ...nothing! Case in point, there is a "suspension rranking". If tiers are based off of pairs, how did they change when the pairs stopped??? Also, people changed a couple houses over the summer when no one was here. There were no parties nor were there new pledge classes. Let the middle school tiers go, actually it's worse than middle school. People need to be a little more secure with themselves and just relax and have a good time. PNM's please just go with the house you genuinely like. The above comment about having to live with the girls in your house is so true. Don't end up in a house full of girls who are nothing like you.

The tiers definitely change. I’m in skulls and we have a picture hung up in our kitchen of the chapter from 2005 and there’s a guy wearing a Skulls - KD homecoming shirt and another guy wearing a Skulls - PiPhi shirt. No shot either of them would pair with us today, which goes to show tiers are constantly changing.
But totally agree, rush a house you feel most comfortable and at home with.

Tiers actually do change. So many tier changes hv been made in just the past yr! With all of the switch ups on campus, and just houses rising and falling because of pledge classes/parties.
