What happened in the alumni lawsuit against nationals?

Absolutely not cool. Better to accept the consequences of poor choices and let the chapter recolonize in a few years. If they go underground, their nationals will NEVER bring their chapter back to IU. The underground groups, like the ones at Penn State, who are lingering from chapters losing their charter are considered a joke on campus. Leeches on the Greek system. What kind of loser wants to be affiliated with that bs?

I've heard that they are, from someone who's freshman sister is planning on joining. I think you need to know Tri Delts to get invited to those rush events, though.

Is there any way to get invited if I don't know any current tri delts

Why the hell would you join a group that will have absolutely no social standing with the University??They will not be able to pair. They will not be able to participate in IUDM.They will not be able to participate in Little 5. And when you get black out drunk at a party and fall down and get hurt, there will be no insurance to pay for your injuries. Are women who get accepting into IU that dumb??

Of course they will pair...on the down low.

Insurance to pay for injuries? Ha ha. Any underage person who drank at a sorority event wouldn't get a cent...the insurance policies are set up so that breaking the law voids any claim you might have.

The only thing that will stop this from getting a toehold is if ALL recognized sororities refuse to socialize with any fraternity that socializes with an underground sorority.

They still pair..
Still have date parties (just had it)..
Still had dad's weekend..
Can do IUDM independently if they want to..
Can do race in Little 5 as an independent team...
They have Delts as a pair for both HOCO and little 5...
And the insurance never comes from the sorority, it comes from the frat...

So they basically have the sorority life without the sanctions from nationals, no chapter, and better living quarters... I can certainly see why girls would want to join.

Delts isn't a frat anymore and has NO insurance and NO house. Like that's a shining example of a "good" pair. I suppose they will pair with Sammy next?

You don't know any current Tri-Delts because there aren't ANY!! Get it, Einstein, the chapter is defunct!! And pairing with a fraternity that no longer exists is nothing more than a bunch of GEEDs at a house party!! Get over yourselves.

You're incorrect. Unless the national office terminated all the individual women, they are still members of Tri Delta. They just aren't members in an active collegiate chapter.

Even when nationals close chapters for the most hardcore of reasons, they usually don't terminate the individual members. They hold out hope that they might see the error of their ways and send them a donation. Tri Delta at Penn State was another story. The majority of them resigned their memberships as a big FU to nationals.

Tldr: having your chapter close does not make you a "geed."

Then how has Penn State's "Triology" last for so long. Lots of local sororitys do well.

The housing situation at Penn State (the sororities are in dorm suites) probably has been a factor in Trilogy staying around for like 10 years. You can't say "don't join Trilogy, they don't have a house" because KKG and KD and ZTA etc don't have houses either. Needless to say that sort of situation would be very different here.

Aside from the sororities NOT having houses at PSU, giving an underground more equal footing to hold onto a social schedule, is the fact that at PSU, there are literally double the # of frats to sororitys, like 43 to 22. So, the top tier frats social with Panhel chapters. The other 20 lower to bottom frats party with service groups (think Independent Women's Council here) as well as girls sports teams, dance groups and orgs like Trilogy. An underground chapter like Trilogy does not social with top tier frats. They get the frats that are left over after all of the legit pairs are established.

Literally the dumbest idea that I have ever heard! What kind of fool would want to be part of that train wreck???

By: Stupid is as stupid does

All of these replies are literally blatant jealousy of the fun & the sisterhood these girls still have despite having their charter revoked.

Back to the basic point: should the chapter have been close? Was it the best decision? Was it fair?

By: bold
by: just stop

Yes, it was fair. When a chapter has been on National Probation for two years, only one of two things can happen. You either get your crap together and get off probation or you get shut down. They had plenty of chances to get it together. Seriously. When is everyone going to realize that the women in this chapter know exactly why it was shut down. They just don't want to own up to the bad behavior.

There goes a Tri Delta alum again, putting her 'best face' on the sore subject of the closure of her beloved sorority chapter. Just because no one 'died' or 'got hurt' doesn't mean the chapter should have remained open.
