Completely the opposite than sororities. First off, spring rush at IU tends to have less people than Fall rush which is a big advantage. Less people rushing means more open spots, and if you meet the criteria you will have the opportunity to rush higher tiered chapters.

See, every fraternity sets a minimum criteria for each new member. Social skills (can you hold a conversation), chill factor (are you relatable), looks (how you dress, dont look like a slob), can you pay your dues, are you a risk to the chapter.

You sign up with IFC. They put you on a list. You then hear presentations from all chapters (if they do presentations in the spring semester). And then you will have the opportunity to attend open events at every house you are interested in. After attending a bunch of these events you'll see where you are comfortable. If you keep on going back to a certain frat they will probably extend you a bid AFTER you've been called to an invite-only event.

How many houses do you recommend rushing for spring rush?

I recommend spending a good amount of time at 4 or 5 houses rather than only a short amount of time at a lot

If you don’t know people, good luck. Rush here is a complete joke, most houses already know who will be in their spring class. Open rush is just a formality that the IFC requires.

Curious how best for a West/OSS Guy to navigate rush? Any houses more focused on getting the best guys whether they know them or not and more members from West of Kansas?
