snap bids

But here is some truth. My friend was cut. Yes cut from kappa after 2nd round but she got a snap bid from them yesterday before the girls on my hall even found out our bids. Very strange

No. Not true. kappa and zeta were calling people yesterday to extend bids. Pnm had 10 minutes to decide on the house

a snap bid example would be, PNM Suzy needs to drop out of recruitment due to unforeseen circumstances, but she still has chapters A, B, and C who invited her back to parties. Chapters D, E, and F had already cut her by the time she dropped out of recruitment.
PNM Suzy would be eligible for a snap bid from chapters A, B, or C if any of these chapters had trouble filling their quota
She would not be getting a snap bid from chapters A, B, or C if these chapters were able to fill their quota normally (from PNMs who attended their pref)
She would not be eligible for a snap bid from chapters D, E, or F because these chapters already cut her (decided that they wanted other PNMs more than they wanted her) before she dropped out of recruitment. Essentially these chapters already said, "I'm sorry, no" to her and therefore she would not be eligible for a snap bid from them
Since IU rush is so competitive, snap bids don't realistically happen. They might be offered to a handful of girls, but honestly the chapters here have such a huge pick of girls from recruitment that they wouldn't really be extending snap bids
And, if snap bids do happen, they are much more likely to be offered from lower recruiting chapters who may not have made quota in an effort to try to reach quota so that they are closer to chapter total and, in an ideal situation, wouldn't have to do any informal recruitment

That's not how it's supposed to happen and there is no incentive for chapters to do this. The one time I've seen it, it was deemed as having gone against the rules.

Who knows what the rules really are are but kappa and zeta were absolutely doing snap bids yesterday. I have no incentive to be saying this nor does it make me happy to say it but it really is the truth. I don't think a house is gonna fess up and say they were doing snap bids or a Pnm that took the snap. It's embarrassing. Now, of course people know girls who took the snap because they dropped out of rush and then had a bid yesterday. It's just a fact-and it's kinda not fair. Can you imagine thinking you wanted to be zeta or kappa but getting cut from them and then sticking with the process so you would get a house only to find out that someone in your group dropped out of rush only to get a snap bid? It's a real thing that happened.

it did happen, my roommate got a call and was offered two bids from two popular housed houses that had dropped her. she dropped out before preference and now is in a house.
happy for her but we all stayed with it and didn't end up with our top choice so it doesn't seem fair at all that you can drop and still be fine.

It is absolutely true, I now know two girls that are kappa that were dropped from them before pref and then dropped out.they still had one housed and all 3 unhoused. they made a big deal about how they were not going to pref and then magically they both are kappas....they beat the system.

Chapters do not snap bid anyone they already cut from recruitment. If a girl dropped out of recruitment with chapters still on her list, she could only get snapped from those chapters still inviting her back.
Al of you literally have no idea what you are talking about. You can say your bff got a bid from her favorite in a snap bid but this is an anonymous site your statements have no validity especially when people who worked on recruitment with Panhel know otherwise.

I just wanted to put the truth out there. And also you can be mad at me because you don't want to believe it. I don't care. Simply telling the truth

you can say "i have no incentive" when posting things all you want, that just means you're even more likely to lie about stuff because, YOU HAVE NO INCENTIVE TO TELL THE TRUTH EITHER.

My friend had suicide bidded a house and didn't get a bid back from them and was offered a snap bid from two houses, one that dropped her after 23 party and another that dropped her pref round. It is absolutely possible to get a snap bid from a house that dropped you in an earlier round if they're still trying to reach quota.

who cares about panhellenic rules? what really matters are individual membership selection policies.
i can tell you that with the way membership selection works in my sorority, this is just not going to happen. we do not snap bid girls we've already cut.

Not sure of the official panhel rules but in my sorority we usually have one or two girls who drop in the days after bid night because of time commitment/financial reasons/deciding Greek life isn't for them, etc. Our nationals allows us to give snap bids to replace those girls but only to pnms that we invited to 3 party that ranked is on their pref card. Not sure if that will change this year because rush was a little different, but the idea is that we don't reward girls who dropped over petty reasons ahead of girls who were genuinely interested.
But yeah don't get too hopeful cause it's pretty rare :/

That's not even a snap bid. It's COB. Snap bids are only given between preferences parties and the start of bid day activities. #greenbook
