question about rush
by: QuestionI'm rushing next week at Uofa and I have a girl in a sorority at uofa messaging me on facebook trying to start a conversation and I'm honestly a little weirded out. How does she know who I am? I've never met her.

Yeah.. you need to report that. Or wait until rush starts and tell your RC if you're too intimidated to report to panhellenic. That's dirty rushing and there's many reasons why its not allowed. But good for you for realizing it's weird, because a lot of PNMs would be flattered and then be crushed when that house dropped them. PNMS: Just because an active is talking to you and seems super interested doesn't mean they want you for sure. They do that to A LOT of girls so they have their pick of the litter. It's a shame because it makes those girls overlook other houses that are actually following the rules.

so if i'm in a sorority and have a friend or relative who is a pnm, i can't speak to her at all? that's ridiculous. i don't think things are as cut n dry as you wish to believe.

Um, yes. That's the rule. It doesn't matter if you have a friend going through rush. You're NOT supposed to talk to them during the no contact period. Are you even in a sorority? Literally EVERYONE knows this rule. Girls get in trouble every year for breaking it.

you're lucky you didn't get caught. because you're really not supposed to do that. Your house could have gotten huge infractions.

It doesn't matter. There is an extremely strict no contact policy in place. So if she's really just "reaching out to new students to make new friends" she's a complete idiot. There are no exceptions. Actives are not allowed to talk to PNMs.
