What I find a little weird...
The fact that GPAs matter so much when rushing. Your grades don't reflect your character... I understand and fully support having a minimum GPA that must be maintained once joining the sorority/frat but having a pre-rec. minimum GPA requirement? A little fishy. You want girls/guys joining your chapter to have personality and by putting a certain GPA requirement or emphasis limits the amazing girls/guys you get to know. Argue all you want, all I'm saying is maybe Sororities and Frats need to re-think the whole "GPA" pre-rec. a little bit.

Ugh. This is why people think U of A isn't a good academic school. Look at another school like Alabama's Greek Rank page and you'll see them go on and on about why grades and involvement matter to sororities. When there are 2000 girls going through rush, and you only bid 100 or so of them, you HAVE to cut them based on something. You can't get to know 2000 girls and rank them by personality. It just makes the most sense to make the first cuts based on grades.
GRADES MATTER. They absolutely DO reflect your character. You're at college to learn and get a degree. Sorority/Greek life is secondary. You need to be able to get a good gpa to stay in school and stay in your sorority, so naturally, the sororities want girls who can maintain a solid gpa.

Anyways. GPA doesn't reflect character at all...
