Why? It's not like you're a legacy in every house. Just ask us which house you're wondering about.

All houses will take legacies into consideration. But none, I repeat none, will give you a bid just because you're a legacy. They have to actually like you as much as they like all the other PNMs they're giving bids to. So in reality, being a legacy doesn't really matter all that much. Usually it'll just get you an invite to the next round. And if you make it to pref, most of the time that means you'll automatically be on the bid list. But anytime in between they are free to cut you for any reason.

Nobody on here will likely give you a straight answer, because the ins and outs of it are a privilege known only to initiated women in a house, and we don't really share that information. The allure of a legacy is that she was raised by (or is the sibling of) a woman who shares in our values as she was likely brought up influenced, unknowingly, by the standards the given sorority teaches it's members. I know my chapter looks at legacies a little differently, and from rumors I've heard (again-rumors- we only know what OUR houses do) the status may get you to a certain round of a house's recruitment, but it doesn't guaruntee you a bid.
