not sure

So Pike (probation) and SAE (soon to be probation) are the top two houses on campus. With them gone for the year socially who is going to have the best year? Seems to me Sigma Chi may be the next big thing? AEPI is solid but they are on thin ice as well. From what I can tell it seems like the UOFA fraternity system is like a revolving door of houses....One gets kicked off another comes back and then one gets kicked off and son on....Kinda sux!

When you have a revolving door of fraternities coming in and going oout every school year, it is usually a sign of a broken IFC, that is lacking structure and control. I know IFC cannot control the actions of all fraternities, but they need to start enforcing (IFC) and University policies regarding code of conduct and push more leadership and accountability training. Fraternities that do not follow the rules and get kicked off, should not allowed to return until 5 to 10 years. New frarernities that start up must demonstrate leadership qualities and promote more philanthropic events then just being another party/drinking club. Also, besides getting local Alumni (Alumni Assoc.)involved to help correct the actions of problem fraternities, maybe it's time to get the parents involved as well. A parent club is a good idea. I know they did try this at one of the SEC schools in it is working. Something has to change or UA IFC will just continue to be a revoloving door of fraternities in and out. That does not look make the IFC look good in the eyes of UA administration or for any New National Fraternity looking ot start at UA. We are becoming more like ASU. GOD TO HOPE NOT!!!

I agree with some of the above. My older brother was a Pike here in the late 90's. They were considered the best house on campus. They had multiple infractions that were not serious in nature related to underage drinking at parties etc. The University kicked them off for five years. FIJI has two members die as a result of activities at their house and they get the same suspension. Its BS. SAE has been getting off easy since forever. My brother told me some of the stuff they would get away with while he was at UA was shocking. Again...total BS. What I do not get is that many greek members go on to have successful careers, some of which are put into a position where they can donate. Why would you want to jeopardize that possible funding by ruining the college experience of others that came after them. Seems to me that greeks and the university should find a better way to work together than just suspending and or kicking off fraternities. It really is a shame.
