No fraternity, or sorority for that matter, would lease their house to the university for 4 years if they could maintain their recognition. Their charter hasn't officially been pulled yet, but I'm guessing this is just for the formality of an investigation.

Their charter WAS pulled by their nationals. That's why the house is being leased out. The loss of university recognition is another matter entirely, has nothing to do with what their nationals decides.. They need to pay their mortgage!

if their charter was pulled then they are gone, right? Why does what the university say even matter? No house, no national charter, what can they even do on campus? the university is weighing the fallout of either banishing the eller boys vs. dealing with family lawsuits, seriously bad p.r. and even more incidents and tragic events. they will go with the most cost effective solution that benefits the school.
