letter of rec

How much do these letters actually help? I know they aren't required but I have a couple that will be sent in

they will help you get invited past the first round. after that they pretty much do nothing and you'll need to rely on your personality/looks to get a bid.

they help give that extra notice for you. so many people don't get them though.
