tiers/ranking
by: ConfusedWhat makes a sorority middle tier? Does winning competitions and being involved stop them from being on top or what?

Tiers are BS, perpetuated by insecure girls who want to be "popular" (gag). Go through recruitment and pray that you get a bid from any of the 12 chapters, don't waste your time here. Some of the "bottom" chapters are the best nationally, and two of the three "top" chapters here are pretty crappy nationally. Yes it does matter, the rest of your life. Arizona is weird, it has a lot of CA and Snottsdale girls who like being cliquey.

In my experience, I know girls in every chapter who would be considered the "total package." People join different houses for different reasons, the values of the house, a girl they met during the second round they really connected with, familial history, national reps, local reps, whatever that may be. But like many on this thread are saying, what other people on campus think about your house is nothing compared to YOUR opinion of your house. Find the house you feel truly at home at, where you imagine yourself on your best days and your worst days, through the highs and lows, and hope you get a bid there. And if you get a bid elsewhere, give the house a real chance- go to lunches and socials and sisterhood events…you may just find something there you didn't see during the rush parties. But regardless, be happy you got a bid, got sisters, and don't care so much about what other people think. Love your letters, wear them proudly, and wear them well.

I do agree with you, tiers do not matter at the end of the day. At all. BUT, National reps mattering? Don't matter either. Tri Delta is one of the best sororities nationally, but here it's considered a "bottom". Does that mean nobody should rush them here? No... but you can be a part of trying to grow and improve your chapter to be it's best. Some houses here are really really good but not as good Nationally. Does that mean you shouldn't rush them either? No. It's cool to be a part of a successful chapter at U of A that may not be as good on a National level because you can be proud of the success of your chapter and set as an example for other chapters. Don't think about it so hard at all. This is beyond stupid. Seriously, this is college and most people quit worrying about what others think. Seriously ANY sorority is better than no sorority and just join then house you like. Who cares which house it is as long as you like it.. cause honestly nobody really does care. People will like you for you not for what sorority you're in. 5% of Greek Life cares about what other people think and 95% doesn't. The 5% come on this website and say the things they say.
