pnms- ask your questions here

by: senior

Instead of starting a bunch of new threads for each individual question, ask anything you want to know here and actives will answer it.

Good luck with recruitment. I know yall are stressed but try to relax. It's going to be fine. :)

Ask anything you're unsure about. There's no such thing as stupid questions.

do frats really haze? Idk if people are being serious on here or not. how much time does pledging take?

By: frosh
by: yes

Yes, most haze. As for time, no one can really answer that. If you're worried you won't have enough time, you probably won't.

how hard is hazing

That's impossible to answer because #1, all frats do it differently, and #2 everyone has different opinions and tolerances. Generally the top houses will haze harder than the lower houses.

Hey everyone going through rush - stop fretting over minutiae and overthinking things. Just be chill and forget about all the things you have zero control over. Houses can sense when you're desperate or trying too hard. Just calm tf down and honor the process.

Just learned I was under the IFC requirement and have a 2.7. Is everyone gonna drop me the first round just based on that?

By: Last minute
by: maybe

It's possible. But no one here will know for sure. Some struggling houses may be looking to take some grade risks. We don't really know.

You're not screwed just because you don't get a middle house. Literally the only differences between tiers here are looks. Lower tier houses here are amazing and I'm not even in one. Seriously, my friends in some of the lower houses love it. If you're a grade risk, you have to be open to them.

You'll be fine! I don't know what you look like or anything else about you, but there's room for anyone in some of the bottom houses. The system is designed so that everyone who sticks it out will get a bid.

Good luck, goobers. So glad your dumb questions will finally come to an end soon.

Right, because asking questions on GR is a really great idea. I also recommend getting medical advice from a plumber instead of asking a doctor. What could possibly go wrong??

Except most of the advice here is actually really good. You're the only one contaminating it with garbage.

So I was in a house and me and the 3 girls clicked and were getting along so good only to find they dropped me! :( I'm just upset because it felt good and another house where I felt the conversation was not good called me back? Is there a reason for this? Sorry I'm just super sad :(

By: Confused
by: yes

Yes, this happens to almost every. single. PNM who rushes.

You're supposed to get along and click with the actives. That's how they make you love their house. That's how rushing works. They want EVERYONE to love them, not just the girls they want to invite back.

Let me tell you something, I ended up in a house where I didn't feel like I had 1 amazing conversation all week. All the conversations were mediocre and boring to the amazing connections I felt I made in other houses. I had a good rush. I was invited back to most of the houses I wanted, and some I didn't want. After pref, I ended up in my second choice.

I LOVE my house. I didn't love it during rush. But think about it this way, combine all the time you spend in the house and all the girls you talked to, and it's miniscule. You talk to probably no more than a dozen different girls in a single house over the course of the week, and you spend less than 3 hours there TOTAL. That's not always enough time to fall in love. Some people do, and that's great. But there are 200 other girls in the house you haven't met, plus your whole pledge class who will be the ones you spend most of your time with!

I ended up in a house I only "sorta liked" during rush. But I'm in love with it now. And my story is not unique. It happens to so so so many people. It's okay to not fall in love with your house during rush.
