If I have a 2.9 GPA, am I gonna be dropped from all decent sororities? Do letters of rec help make up for gpa?

It depends. Rec letters can help if you have a legitimate reason for your low GPA. Because it can be explained in the rec.

With a 2.9, you need to get the idea of "decent sororities" out of your head. You need to accept that you will have to take what you can get if you really want to be in a house. Plus, literally every single house is decent. Better than decent even.

Since the first day is GPA cuts, am I gonna be dropped without the sorority getting to even know me?

Yes, that's generally what happens. The sororities can't get to know everyone. So it's easier to make cuts based on grades, and then get to know the girls that are left.

However, it's not unheard of for them to make exceptions if they really like a girl. But you shouldn't bank on that happening. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

Hey OP, your GPA is showing. If you had bothered to put forth the tiniest bit of mental effort, you would see there's like four discussions about GPA on the first two pages of this board, and that this topic has been hashed and rehashed ad nauseum over the last week. Get with it.

im a PNM and i have hella questions too but honestly everyone here just contradicts themselves and theres always different answers for everything so now I rather just wait and see than work myself over an answer from someone who might not even know wtf they are talking about lol

Honestly, it's not that hard to tell who is talking out of their ass on here. The people who take the time to give you a well thought out response are telling you the truth. The responses that are rude and short are generally incorrect. I would still ask your questions.
