tier system

What make the difference between a top tier sorority and a middle tier one? D eves it have to do with looks of the size of the house? I know it's probably a stupid question, but I just have a feeling none of the top ones are going to want me. So much anxiety!

So, the main thing is looks. And I know it sounds shallow, but let me explain.

When you look good, you attract people. Good looking houses, (physical house and attractiveness of the members) are going to attract the most PNMs. When you attract the most PNMs, you get the privilege of picking and choosing the best ones. And because they'll all want you, you'll get all the ones you pick. Now, when they are choosing PNMs, they don't just choose for attractiveness. They want gorgeous girls who are also involved and social and have good grades. But it starts with looks. You can't attract the cream of the crop without a good looking house.

Take a look at tri delt. They're a struggling house. They don't have the best looking girls or the best looking house. They're also a small house. But they're all really involved on campus, and do a crap ton of work for their philanthropy. (everyone loves DHOP) They're also really sweet, social, and easy to get along with. By all those things, they should be higher up in the ranks right? But no. They're dead last. It sucks, but looks do play a primary role.

That being said, if you're worried about not getting into top houses because of your looks, then why are you even focused on top houses? All the houses here are great. And you can tell because even our bottom house has awesome girls. PNMs: It's not the end of the world if you don't get a top house! There are more important things!

If they see that you are a good fit they'll want you. They all have different vibes. Just be yourself and you will end up in the right house. We have all gone through this and we know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately anxiety is part of the process but it can be managed. It is not as bad as you might think. Good luck.

The tiers are like popularity in high school. It only matters if you let it affect you! I have friends in every "level" and my best friend is in a "lower" house than mine but we still go to the same parties, weekenders, and vacations. You're only here for 4 years so don't let a stupid ranking from the internet define your perspective and affect friends that you'll have for a lifetime
