veteran rush
by: Older RushSo, I haven't seen much on this and figured I'd ask. I was in the Army for the last 6 years and now I will be going to school at 27. Looking for another type of "brotherhood" of sorts and one of my friends I served with said I should look into fraternities, as he was in one beforehand. I know most posts here are about chances of making it based on credits and gap, which I am not worried about, but mine is more on age. Would I even be looked at if I rush?

Dude, no. Thanks for your service, but I don't think Greek life is right for you.
Not only will YOU feel uncomfortable being bossed around by a bunch of 19 year olds, but they will most likely feel uncomfortable as well.
You've been through a lot in your life at the young age of 27. But unfortunately what you've gone through probably makes you a lot older than your physical age. You would hate being in a fraternity. You will have nothing in common with the brothers. It will be awkward and weird.
By all means, rush if you want. But don't say I didn't warn you when you drop 1 week into pledging.

I am a 25 years old and a Army Veteran myself who rushed spring semester. I was lucky enough to find a fraternity who had the brotherhood i was looking for and they love veterans. For one dont listen to these goobers on this site. Just go in with an open mind and do ask questions when you are rushing. Fraternities will look at you based on your maturity and your service. Other Fraternities will not even bat an eye on you just on the sole fact of your age. If they start determining your eligibility based on your age dont even bother with them. Even though most fraternities were started from veterans. when you do start pledging mind you it will be difficult but it will be easier than bct, but more fun and enjoyable. Keep an open mind and rush as some one will value you as they did for me.
