recommendation letters?

So I'm thinking about re-rushing in the fall as a sophomore and I would trying to decide if getting rec letter would be a good thing. I heard that some schools don't even want them and they could hurt. A few of my sisters friends offered to write me Recs, should I take them? Are they worth getting?
