If you actually care about philanthropy don't join this one. The charity aspect is just sad. They raise money for only one foundation by just selling tickets (no volunteer work or anythings of extra effort). They only care about chapter funds which idk why but formal budget was slashed this year. We were promised a free plus one like every year before- but that was taken away this year (also a lot of their own members weren’t allowed to go because they didn’t attend enough events- especially since all recruitment events are mandatory and mental health or trying to get ahead on school work is not a good enough excuse to them). They really only care about rush numbers and the money from dues (which are around $1,000 for the first year and a little over $700 for every year after). Trust me they'll make you feel really special and welcomed during rush but after your first semester they couldn't care less about you. Some of the girls are super nice and there's definitely a chance that you might make your best friends for life- but the whole system (election system, point system, and the way it’s run) is not set up to promote sisterhood, kindness, character, or generosity at all! Almost every actions and decisions the make goes completely against their core values/pillars.

if alpha phi had different leadership, maybe half the chapter would not have dropped this semester

There are so many kind and intelligent women in this sorority. They are definitely nicer and more academically driven than Alpha Phi is.

I really wish I joined KBG or Tri-Delta instead :( Alpha phi does not practice what they preach (sisterhood, character and inclusion don’t mean anything to them even though they say they care)

Not in Greek life, but I know a few of the sororities on campus. I’ve gotten to know a few girls in Tri Delt and they’re honestly super cool. Their always doing a lot with each other but their still chill to hang out with! Lowkey seems like one of the better sororities if you ask me.

Someone I know joined this sorority and it changed them as a person. They became incredibly crass and rude, not to mention extremely shallow. The whole thing is about “sisterhood” but what it really seems to mean is paying to feel popular like you’re in high school again. They kicked a girl out for being rude this year, while they all gossip and talk about each other behind their backs. That might be normal when you’re 14 but these girls are all in their 20s attempting to feel like they did at 16 when they were popular in high school. Don’t waste your time and money on this, instead find a place you feel comfortable and meet people (without having to pay them to be your friends) and create genuine connection based on shared interests, not the ability to pay for people to like you. Also they do poor charity work, they raise money for cancer research yes but it’s largely performative and about showing “good faith” rather than doing actual community work/involvement. I know i’m probably being overly harsh but it really is a high school type popularity contest except it costs 400+ dollars a year. Save the money, learn to be comfortable with yourself and your identity, university is about growth, not trying to relive the high school peak.

Some of the most fun girls I've ever met! They're so welcoming and have such a supportive sisterhood. They are driven and hard working, and embody the values of their organization.

Girls seem nice but they aren't the most social... They do have a good reputation and hosts a lot of philanthropy events though.
