Is it true that SDT won't be in fall recruitment this year? And if so how does that affect pnms

They're only doing informal/COB from now on. They won't be figured into quota after pref, but that isn't going to make formal any easier for PNMs.

It won't make it easier per se, but it will also increase quota for everyone. Quota is based on total PNMs who attend preference divided by chapters. So with one fewer chapter figured in that formula, each remaining chapter gets more new members to bid.

When SDT participated in formal recruitment, a lot of PNMs got stuck with them round after round because their return rate was so low they had to invite basically everyone back. PNMs could not get rid of them and very few people who attended their preference wanted to be there. They ruined recruitment for a lot of PNMs, and that caused a lot of resentment. They just aren't like the other chapters and they can't compete. Good luck to them with open bidding! That will allow them to attract people who are really interested in them.
