sorority winter rush?
by: freshmenI am a freshmen who didn't get a bid because I stupidly decided to suicide one house and I'm wondering if any sororities besides AGD and AEPhi are doing winter rush? I know normally they don't, but someone said some sororities didn't fill their PC's this year because of some Pan Hellenic rule and might take more in the winter? Thanks for any info :)

Sometime when u meet people during rush that happens sometime no matter where you go.
So it's understandable. I do not know any houses that are doing rush in the winter. Probably neither of those houses would either, if they even still are, but maybe in their rules. Both had great recruitments and were over quota.
Try to make friends with girls in all houses this year. It may help next time you do decide to rush. This way you can get to know a mix of different people instead of those you were assigned to briefly during rush. And be opened minded next year, so your same mistake won't happen. You will know better how everything works now. Greek life is great no matter where you are. Oh. One more thing. Stay off of this site if you want the real information about sorority life at UM. This is NOT the place to get to know any of the houses either.

Thank you! I don't feel like it was a mistake to suicide the house I did though because I only had one other house and one girl at that house asked where my parents worked and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. I know that one girl isn't a picture of a whole house but I went with my gut on that one. I have met so many amazing girls in different houses and wish I could be in one too! Will probably rush next year, thanks for your help :)

This brings up a good point. It is really exciting but can be stressful for the girls hosting the rush too.
I'm not saying the poster did this but many girls coming through houses recently were not the friendliest and made it difficult to talk to them. The PNM may be shy or nervousness but in some cases kinda snotty with the girls in the house if they did not want to be there. So it works two ways with conversations sometimes.

This year's rush was weird in the fact that so many girls got cut and didn't end up in a house at all- I'm sorry that that happened to you too. Being in a sorority is so amazing/rewarding and I hope you get the chance to join one in the winter or next year!

I don't think I'm too good for them at all... When I rushed I didn't connect with any of the girls in those houses and the conversations were forced so I can't see myself in either. That happened with other houses too I just know those two do winter rush already. I really just wanted to know if any sororities were doing winter rush there's no need to be mean about it
