why is everyone from ny and la?

Why does it feel like all the top frat kids are predominately kids from Rich areas of NY (Long Island, Westchester, Jericho) and LA kids? There are no in-state kids other than those from Bloomfield Hills.... We should have more in-state kids in our top frats since we are a Michigan Public College!
